ALC 2017 Annual Conference was held in Miami Beach, Florida during May 17-20, 2017. It has already been 13 years since several company owners in the language industry joined together to form the ALC organization in 2004.
Blending education, networking, and other activities together perfectly, the event offered numerous opportunities to business owners and professionals to share opinions, discuss industry issues and concerns, brainstorm solutions and, at the same time, experience a lot of fun and create wonderful memories.
Two-day education sessions covered a wide range of topics such as Language Services Industry Overview; Trends Impacting the Industry; Sales Strategies and Marketing Management; Business Model Innovation; M&A activity; Scaling and Growing an LSC; Employee & Partnership Management; Translation Services Standards; Interpreting Market; Taxation; Law Evolving for Copyrights, Trademarks, and Patents; Independent Contractor Agreement and so on.
As always, ALC Industry Survey is one of the most fascinating highlights of the conference. Being conducted for more than 10 years, and in collaboration with the European Language Industry Association (Elia) for the fifth year in a row, the survey provides key data that can aid translation companies in benchmarking their performance against those of their industry colleagues.
MultiLingual Technologies has been a member of ALC for nearly ten years and has attended most of their annual conferences. Excitingly, this was the first year for MultiLingual Technologies to exhibit at the Conference. The exhibition table provided introductory as well as informational content about the Silicon Valley-based language service provider. It was visited by many ALC attendees, during which great ideas and experiences were shared.
ALC’s next Annual Conference will take place in Scottsdale, Arizona, on April 25-28, 2018.
